Italy 24  Ireland 51

Ireland secure big win over Italy - now there's a surprise!

Ireland and Italy went through the motions, but the championship was decided five weeks ago in the choker in Croker. Even if Ireland had secured enough points to win The Six Nations Championship it wouldn't have made much difference. Ireland still came up short when it mattered against the French.

So what have we learned about Ireland from this campaign?

  • We have 18 players that O'Sullivan will use. The rest aren't to be trusted even under the worst circumstances.
  • Er, that's it.

Now some people may wonder if this is a good enough return for a team featuring the Heineken Cup winning pack, the, "best back line in Europe" and a bench made up of the current Celtic League champions.

But sure we gave it a lash and developed lots of young exciting

talent in time for the World Cup. Didn't we? Yeah?

It needs to be asked if O'Stunted's personal ambitions are now starting to detrimentally effect the development of the Irish team. It appears that O'Stunted is so focused on his personal win/lose ratio that he is not developing the team. He is taking a huge risk going into Ireland's World Cup campaign. It appears he has learnt nothing from the disastrous Lions campaign where a crippled Wilkinson was wheeled out and as soon as BOD was crocked there was no-one to fall back on.

If BOD or O'Gara or O'Connell or whoever is crocked going into the World Cup who will O'Stunted fall back on? He's had three games since the French defeat to experiment but he either hasn't had the balls or the nous to do this! A couple of centre combinations could have been tried, a couple of half back combinations could have been tried, a couple of second row combinations could have been tried, some backrow variations would have been nice!

Oh well, we've still got two brutal games against World Cup opponents Argentina, in Buenos Aires, for all those. That should be enough! Shouldn't it? Yeah?

INTISTA Predictions League Week 27

Rounding off a successful week were he was re-elected to the URSC, Kimble ekes out two points over closest rival Ardmhic (who was getting too big for his boots anyway!)

Dewi goes from hero to zero. Having the only full house last week he now is the only person to score one.

Jackie Brown scores three, getting a bonus point for predicting France would win the Six Nations!
